Since it seems to be a trend, might as well continue it. I was going to piggyback on the North Austin thread, but due to the holiday crunch and extended drive to North Austin, I decided to just order myself and setup a group buy for Buda / South Austin region.

I'm located in Buda, but travel frequently into South Austin.

The group buy name is: MAAST South Austin

The group buy process is simple. Go online to www.reefcleaners.org, add the items you want to your cart and initiate the check out process. During the check out process, please use the code MAAST to get your discount for being a member, choose Group Buy shipping, and also put the above group name in the comments section so they can consolidate everything easily.

They will then package everything separate with names, allow everyone to individually pay, and will all be shipped to a single address to be distributed. I will have it ship to my address in Buda.

I currently have it set to ship next Monday (12/1/08) but can push this out one or two weeks if we need to allow additional time to get orders in.

If you decide to order, please post a reply in this thread with your name and order dollar amount. This will allow everyone to get an idea if free shipping minimum was met. If we don't meet it, then the shipping charge will be prorated between those who ordered.

Kind of wish you would have done this before orders were placed...I would have waited and jumped in on this one. I live in Cedar Creek and work downtown so this would have been much easier for me...dang

The guy from reefcleaners called me about the Georgetown order not being able to be shipped until Monday. He also said he'd move my order to the South Austin order and it wouldn't affect shipping.

Good to hear, hopefully we now get a few more individuals in the South section of Austin / region so we can take advantage of free shipping.

How much was your total? I haven't submitted mine, but will be around $50-60. I'm still trying to figure out my exact requirements.

Dee

ReyBeast said something on the other postings that asked Jogn to have his and Iplanz moved to the Austin order as well. I work downtown so if we need a more central location, I can definitely accept the package. I'm at work until 6p.m. also.

It looks like the orders were moved to the South Austin group buy. John had contacted me that everyone was set but he is trying to track down ?Darrius?. His telephone number was missing the 3 digit area code.

If that is you, I would attempt to email / call John at reefcleaners.org

Ok thanks for answering my questions, Darrius is my dad, and orders for me because I don't have a credit card. (512) area code, but I don't think it matters as long as I know my order was placed,

The group buy is now closed.

Here is what we have:

ETA: Tuesday. I am going to ship with Fedex or UPS to make sure it gets there on Tuesday, since you are all in 2 day locations. Must be nice living just outside of the city. :) I don't use them often, so I expect it to cost me an arm and a leg, so if you want to paypal me a few bucks for the extra shipping I won't complain.

Orders (Names made into initials- if you don't see yours call me at 850-320-0604.)
Please read entire post, free urchins at the bottom of the page.

Picking up your Order:

Each species will be packaged separately, with the person's name on it. Larger bags with the name on the outside are the owner of all of the bags inside. Larger bags without names on the outside have bags within that go to different people.

Acclimation (Snails & Hermit Crabs)

1. Float the bag in your tank to get the snail used to the temperature in your aquarium.
2. Wait 15 minutes.
3. Add contents to tank.
Important: Snails may go through shock during shipping, and be closed when they arrive. You should give them plenty of time to come out of their shells and move around before deciding they didn't make the trip. Ceriths may go dormant for up to 3 days.
You may find this to be different than the acclimation procedure you are used to carrying out. The reason we now ask our customers to use this procedure is because our snails and crabs live intertidally, and can handle drastic swings in ph/salinity without a problem. However, what they can't handle is toxic levels of ammonia. During the shipping process, ammonia levels in the shipping bags build, while the ph level goes down. As the ph goes down the toxicity of ammonia also goes down. However, when your tank water with normal ph is introduced to the shipping bags, and the ph rises, so does the toxicity of the ammonia, and you will be poisoning the livestock. Please don't do this. Any other method of acclimation voids the Alive Arrival Guarantee.

Macro Algae and Mangrove Acclimation

1. Float the bag in your tank to get the macro used to the temperature in your aquarium.
2. Wait 15 minutes.
3. Add contents to tank.
Your macro has been without light for some time and it needs light to survive. As long as it will not harm your tank, try to put the lights on when you introduce macro algae. Stress on a macro is normal. A good photocycle or two usually improves their health, you should give them time to bounce back.

Crabs, Shrimp, Urchins, and Starfish

1. Float the bag in your tank for 15 minutes to get them used to the temperature.
2. Open bag, and drip acclimate for 30 minutes. (Start a siphon with airline tubing and then tie a knot in it so there is about 4 drops of water every second or so).
3. Remove animals from water and place in your tank.

Need Good Home for 2 Urchins:
*** We have two free pincushion urchins available to the first 2 people that reply. They are about the size of a baseball, and will grow to the size of a softball. Better for large FOWLR. 70 gallons + Really nice colors, but no pics. Had them for awhile, just tired of feeding them. They are not macro safe, they are big and clumsy.****

Items marked with an asterisk are more fragile than others, get them in the tank ASAP.

If you think the pincushions would help tear up the algea in my tank, then Ill take one. I have no macro, frags, ect. it can hurt/bulldoze. I am getting bryopsis and small white hairs on my rocks, will the pincushion help? You said free right?

Hi everyone, package went out, guaranteed for tomorrow delivery. We shipped with UPS, and at approximately $150 worth of shipping it better get there on time. If it doesn't let me know so I can start filing a claim for a shipping refund. We took a major loss on this package, and would appreciate anybody who would like to chip in on the shipping. I think we would have been better off shipping Express Mail to each individual, but there was the 2nd day arrival problem. While we love doing group buys with MAAST, in the future we would like to get the details down about ahead of time for orders going to this area so we can let the members know not to buy animals that need next day service. We won't be able to afford these types of shipping upgrades again.

MY GOD! I hope that the other GB's go smoothly. I greatly appreciate everything you've done, and I would pitch money if I had money  I am sorry I can't help out, I feel bad your deals are so good, then maybe you could retire early  Bumping for others attached!

Reybeast, I am going to pm you my phone number.

I am SO excited to get something new for my tank.... :D

And I can probably send a bit for shipping towards the end of the week.
John, you dont know if its just the austin area specific to whatever address we were sending it to, or that is the high shipping and days because of the holidays? Or if its a Texas thing? Anywho, I will chip in on some shipping for you at the end of the week.

how did it go?

I recived my order...And more! Man I got a ton of snails, aleast 30+ what I ordered. Most the extras were small, but they are extras so yeah! My emerald crab didn't make it, but it looks like he died in transit, he fouled up his water pretty bad. Everything arrived great, it was nice meeting Reybeast too. ONE weird thing though I must ask is, when the urchin arrived I acclimated it, floating it for 15 min.(<-ironic), then drip acclimated for 2 hours (slowly, very slowly). Heres where it gets weird, when I put it in the tank it floated!.......... After holding him in place he attached to a piece of LR, but on arrival and now, he is shedding spines. Hes not actively loosing them now, but hes ridding himself of some that were loose that he arrived with. I think this is normal from stress, and hope hes alright. Any advise is great!

THANK YOU! Reefcleaners is a great bussiness and I will reccomend it to everyone I know and meet across various fourms and in person. I want to thank you for the great CUC, the great shipping (especially the bullet you took to get it here), and the great service. You customer service is unmatched, andhope you good bussiness in the future!
