How many mangroves should I get for a 135 that is fish only for now. I plan on adding inverts, zoas, and lps once I get my nitrates under control.

I've read 1 per 10 gallons.

i read up on mangroves recently and discovered that if leaves die and fall in water they can polute the water so be carful. I do not know how many you will need thou.

^ Correct. The leaves will release nutrients back into the water if left in the water. Also, it helps if you mist the mangrove leaves daily with RO water.

As far as how many you can have, the answer is as many as you want. Just watch your magnesium level, as mangroves utilize magnesium to excrete salt through their leaves, that is also where the misting comes into play (to wash the salt away from the leaves). I have heard different "rule of thumb" and the most common does seem to be one per 10 gallons as JC mentioned above.
