Mon, 17th Nov 2008, 09:09 PM
I bought a bunch of stuff last week from reeftopia. But...With all of the tanks I support I need more. So www.reefcleaners.org (http://www.reefcleaners.org) offers a MAAST discount. So if you need anything I will be ordering after Thanksgiving. I will have it shipped to my school NW side. This way the front office can receive the order and nobody has to take off work. Lmk what you need.

s I just put in group order shipping code, and let them know I am a maast member in the notes field, and viola, everything will be shipped to you? or me?

coraline79
Fri, 21st Nov 2008, 12:10 PM
I just made my purchase on the site. I wrote in the notes, Maast - San Antonio Group Order, coordinated by David(Darth-Tater), with a dealine of next Friday.

Captain Jack
Fri, 21st Nov 2008, 11:36 PM
I'm interested in getting a few cleaners, probably $5-$10 worth. Will this be any overnight shipment? as in, could i consider getting any of the guys that require express shipping?

Captain Jack
Mon, 24th Nov 2008, 05:30 PM
Anyone able to answer the above question? Will it be the express shipping or regular?

Darth-Tater
Wed, 26th Nov 2008, 12:34 PM
Capt Jack I am in Missouri right now. I am going to have everything shipped to me at my school. I would like to ship the fstest way possible. All you have to do is contact reef cleaners and tell them you are part of the maast group buy. They will bill you and your part of the shipping. Tell them it is for the darth-tater Maast order. U wull close off the order this Friday and have it shipped out on Monday.

David

coraline79
Wed, 26th Nov 2008, 12:35 PM
That means we would all be charged for shipping. The point in the group order is to get free shipping-at least for me.

Darth-Tater
Wed, 26th Nov 2008, 12:43 PM
If we get enough for free shipping it will be free. If not it would split among the orders. If this isn't ok I understand. Anyone can back out at anytime. I am calling john this afternoon and asking about the shipping. I have no idea what the amount of the order is so I don't know if we are near free shipping or not. I know I want about $50.00 plus. If everyone will post the amt of their order we can get an idea.

David

if yall dont have enough to fill in the free shipping some one pm ill buy a few things

coraline79
Wed, 26th Nov 2008, 04:24 PM
if we are close, let me know. I could spend another 15-20 or so if that meant not spending 10-15 or so on shipping.

Captain Jack
Wed, 26th Nov 2008, 04:58 PM
so it is sounding like i COULD order some of the things that require express shipping? and i'm guessing maybe other people already have.

I was just wanting to be sure.

Darth-Tater
Thu, 27th Nov 2008, 12:35 PM
we almost have enough for free express shipping. if anyone else wants to rder that woul put us over the top.

David

Captain Jack
Thu, 27th Nov 2008, 01:26 PM
it would be helpful to know roughly how much more we need for the free shipping. $10? $50?

I put my order in yesterday for about $12 worth. (unfortunately, with my small 30 gal tank I don't think it would be best for me to order any more, even though the prices are great.)

coraline79
Thu, 27th Nov 2008, 07:11 PM
Just talked to David(darth-tater), he said he is extending the deadliine sunday. The order will ship out Monday, and will be at his school by Tuesday. He said the mark is 150 for free shipping so we are very close. I am oredring another 10-15 buck right now, If anyone else wants to go for it.

Picking up your Order:

Each species will be packaged separately, with the person's name on it. Larger bags with the name on the outside are the owner of all of the bags inside. Larger bags without names on the outside have bags within that go to different people.

Acclimation (Snails & Hermit Crabs)

1. Float the bag in your tank to get the snail used to the temperature in your aquarium.
2. Wait 15 minutes.
3. Add contents to tank.
Important: Snails may go through shock during shipping, and be closed when they arrive. You should give them plenty of time to come out of their shells and move around before deciding they didn't make the trip. Ceriths may go dormant for up to 3 days.
You may find this to be different than the acclimation procedure you are used to carrying out. The reason we now ask our customers to use this procedure is because our snails and crabs live intertidally, and can handle drastic swings in ph/salinity without a problem. However, what they can't handle is toxic levels of ammonia. During the shipping process, ammonia levels in the shipping bags build, while the ph level goes down. As the ph goes down the toxicity of ammonia also goes down. However, when your tank water with normal ph is introduced to the shipping bags, and the ph rises, so does the toxicity of the ammonia, and you will be poisoning the livestock. Please don't do this. Any other method of acclimation voids the Alive Arrival Guarantee.

Macro Algae and Mangrove Acclimation

1. Float the bag in your tank to get the macro used to the temperature in your aquarium.
2. Wait 15 minutes.
3. Add contents to tank.
Your macro has been without light for some time and it needs light to survive. As long as it will not harm your tank, try to put the lights on when you introduce macro algae. Stress on a macro is normal. A good photocycle or two usually improves their health, you should give them time to bounce back.

Crabs, Shrimp, Urchins, and Starfish

1. Float the bag in your tank for 15 minutes to get them used to the temperature.
2. Open bag, and drip acclimate for 30 minutes. (Start a siphon with airline tubing and then tie a knot in it so there is about 4 drops of water every second or so).
3. Remove animals from water and place in your tank.

Need Good Home for 2 Urchins:
*** We have two free pincushion urchins available to the first 2 people that reply. They are about the size of a baseball, and will grow to the size of a softball. Better for large FOWLR. 70 gallons + Really nice colors, but no pics. Had them for awhile, just tired of feeding them. They are not macro safe, they are big and clumsy.****

Items marked with an asterisk are more fragile than others, get them in the tank ASAP.

Hey Darth I was able to get some extra time so I ran out to the LFS and picked up some hermits. The kid there is a little slow, and I think he caught some empties and put them in there. I also think he didn't count to 25 correctly, so not sure how many you got so I won't send a bill - I felt bad about counting them again in front of him. The people at this place are great, but I think the kid likes the animals too much and isn't very good at bagging them, I think he would much rather just watch them. I don't blame him! :)

By the way if you have a lot of tanks for school purposes, let me know if we can help. Always loved setting up a special for the classroom.
