I am looking for recomendations on a dependable heater. I have seen the horror stories of tank crashes due to heater problems so I would like to get a bullet proof heater. Any suggestions on brands?

Just so you know ive been in the hobby a while and have never used a heater on my salt water tanks. Its warm this part of texas and as long as you keep your thermestate the same temp year or close year round you dont need them.

Also any pumps, powerheads, lights warm the water.

Ebo-Jager are my favorite. Visitherms are also very good.

Below is a link to a pretty good article concerning heating, but no specific brand recommendations though.

Ebo-Jager

By far the best for quality and price. Never had a problem with the ones I have owned!

Ebo-Jager made by Eheim doesnt it? I got 2 of the 250w. I love them but they are abit long 17" compares to my 300w Visitherms. It is also Automatic safety shut-off switch 2mm shock resistant glass. I hooked them up to my controller, and they work as they suppose to.
