so i was looking at my tank the other day and noticed that there was a type of what looked like a centipeed and like color orange that was about a good 1 - 2 inch long. what could this be, noticed that there are other small ones under the gravel....GOOD ---- or ----BAD ???? took a picture but don't know how to post them up.

Bristle worm, sounds like. They are usually good because they will help cleanup left-over food & dead stuff. Occasionally some might get large enough and be of a particular type that they eat a small fish. It this is the case you can get traps for them. But generally people worry too much and the worms don't deserve the bad rap.

Does it look anything like this? If so then yes its a Bristle Worm.. Hope this helps..

LOL! It was about 5" and fat. As you can see.. He went down into our fuge..

dad gum, that is a big worm, all the ones i got are like two inches and some of them have some blue to them, it might just be where one of their intestines are though, some are slightly see through i believe... i hope i dont have any fireworms lol, they dont seem to be bothering anything, i think my coral banded shrimp eats some of them once in a while...

I took that picture when we first started out not to long ago and I had no Idea what on earth it was... LOL.. now I know... :) Ugly arent they.. Now if I see one I just suck it up with a nose bulb for babies and I put it in our Fuge...Im glad I could help...

BTW, don't touch them without gloves. They get the nickname fire worm honestly.

You don't have to transfer the guy to your fuge, it's just as well to keep (them) in your tank to keep the sand cleaned. Yep, if you find a big one, it's better to put it in the fuge where no fish are at. I pulled a 27" one out of my 180, but it wasn't going back in to either!
