I just upgraded to MH and my tank has a 4 degree swing from night to day 79-83. I have all types of corals. I'm running the MH (2 x 250watt) 6 hours a day, at 10 hours it was up to 86 (this happened today). Hope everything will be ok.
Any comments?

Mine was at 84 earlier, it got a little too hot outside to keep it cool without A/C. I just turned off the halides for awhile. You will probably have to keep your house at about 75 to keep it right about 81-82 degrees....

A swing between 76-85 degrees...despite common belief...is fine for most corals. In the summer though, you WILL have a problem.

Thanks for the replies...very re-assuring. We keep the AC set at 76.

I discovered my new tank is too efficient at cooling itself, the temp was dropping to 73 at night, so I bumped my heater setting on the ACjr, and now my tank temp stays between 78.5 and 81.5.

Mine is staying around 80.5 to 81.5 with just a heater.

my tank swings between 78 at night to 82 when the lights are on. I have to keep the house ac at 75 during the summer.

My temps swing from 78 -79. House is kept at 78. I run halides with a chiller.
