Ok I move nov. 15th, I pick up my new 120 gallon starphire tank and sump on the 16th. I have 4 twenty lb bags of live sand that are unopend. I have 40 lbs in my current tank that is alive, and 20 lbs in my fuge that is alive. I currently have 85 or so lbs of live rock that has coraline on it but needs some cyno brushed off of it. I bought another 115 lbs of live rock, and some of it had aptasia on it so i used the lemon juice and in the end I decided to bleach half the rock that was there, anything that was clean I kept because they had some more collinista snails and brittle stars in them and I won't mind having them in the tank. so I have about 50-60 lbs of rock that is bleached, i put it in a bath tub full of water and put dechlor in it twice, each time emptying the tub and refilling it so that All the bleach will be gone. After this I am going to put it back in my ice chest filled with saltwater with all the coraline encrusted live rock (it has a powerhead in it) and i'm going to let it sit there until the tank comes in on nov 16. I'm wondering about my live stock, should I quarintine my chromi's, tang, clown, and goby along with all my shrimp, snails, and crabs until I feel my new tank is estabished..... Should I use any of my existing saltwater to fill the tank up if possible, or will the amount i keep covering the sand be enough? Another question, being a freshwater guy all my life until this 50 gallon i currently have, I really enjoy setting up the aquascape before filling it up with water, to me its just easier to visualize and work with in this way. If i do this will i worry about lots of dieoff and should i need to reseed any of the coraline or other creatures? I was considering getting some GARF grunge to seed the tank with so mabe I will end up with some more colours of coraline algae..... Please give me some advice, this cant be that hard but its kinda stumping me because its not as easy as freshwater transfer, haha <---- went to college and came back dumber than before (typical huh) lol thanks a lot!:Timeout:

Your plan sounds good to me. Many people aquascape without water in the tank. It does tend to make it easier and your structures more stable this way. Coraline dies very quickly when exposed to air for just a short period of time. Any inverts will surprisingly live for a while in a wetrock out of the water, but Id try to do it quickly none the less. You will have die off and a cycle, but let it take its course and everything will come together nicely.

Oh and make sure to have your skimmer running wet for the first couple of weeks to pull out more of the impurities/ dieing matter.

heck, i still need to buy a skimmer lol, i was going to use all this money ive been saving for a calc reactor for sps, and a skimmer, but i spent it on my new tank. The likelyhood of me having the cash overflow that ive got now is slim to none in the future so I went the tank route, cause i bought a new truck. none the less I shall save and get the skimmer then a kalk or calc reactor soon if all goes as planned.... Thx for the info!
