View Full Version : MAAST problems

I signed up with MAAST two days ago and have been checking it religously and wanted to buy a membership as soon as the funds become available. Though my LFS doesn't honor MAAST discounts I've watched the sales posted and it seems very worthwhile to bypass the post limit. I have gotten helpful advice and look foward to doing my part to see MACNA come to SA, TX.:at_wits_end: But logging in and browsing forums has been a major issue. I am getting an error with almost every action I perform. It then tells me to report it to admin, which I do and the problem continues without getting addressed or fixed. I click a link, get the error, double click "back" on my internet explorer and then I arrive at my desired location. Its beginning to feel like more trouble than it's worth as I am still limited to my abilities on this site. Does anyone have this problem or know how to erradicate it, before I erradicate this site from my list?

Hmmm, that is strange. Heard of know one else having problems. This site has so much to offer and I hate to see someone go over glitches. Im not sure what LFS you use in San Antonio but several do provide a discount to Maastards. Im sure One of the board members will figure out whats going on and get you fixed up.

This is my error:

Your submission could not be processed because a security token was missing.

If this occurred unexpectedly, please inform the administrator (http://maast.org/forums/sendmessage.php) and describe the action you performed before you received this error.

I get the same error when logging into the system as well. The error seems to occur immediately after logging in with the username / password and during the phase when the system tries to redirect to the original page. It makes postings really difficult as well because half the time, I'd get the security error when submitting the posting. This error seems to occur on multiple machines and platforms. I've experienced this on Firefox 3 on Windows XP, Mac OS X and Ubuntu. The error also seems to occur with Internet Explorer on the Windows side and with Safari on the Mac side.

There are over 3600 registered users of this site plus 100's or 1000's more that browse it as guests. As only a handful have problems, I wouldn't automatically call MAAST a bad experience. Computers don't always run properly and networks don't always connect properly, there could be any number of possible reasons for the errors. Also remember, this is club and website is run by volunteers. MAAST does not have a full time IT department just sitting around waiting to get messages from people and then jump on it to correct it. It could be possible they weren't even getting your emails to report the errors if you were having connection problems to begin with. Our BOD and those that work to keep this site running smoothly will do their best to help resovle any issues when they have time available to do so. Give Brian and the others a chance to look into it and I'm sure they will do their best to help.

I have started getting that constantly myself and it began after I changed some personal settings. I would try to identify which one but I can't get in there at all because that message continually pops up. I have had a very hard time with the site lately myself. It ONLY began AFTER changing some of my personal settings.

There are a few variables why this happens. It can happen if people are logged in on multiple computers or items such as phone, psp, mac, or something else that has different settings. You can also clean the cache out on your browser. That generally resets it. Sometimes it is an error that was made while the admin was dlowding updates. It isnt always the fault of the site you are visiting.

thanks for everyone that tried to help out

after investigating this is a known bug with the version of vb we are on. it is actually caused by a security feature in the software to prevent script kiddies from attacking us again.

i will get with brian and work on it ASAP

funny thing is that i got it for the first time when making this post :(

try clearing out your cookies in the meantime

3490 registered....but doesn't mean 3600 users. A security glitch from the result of preventing hackers is OK in my book. :applause:Tony thank you for getting back to us. Sorry to hear others are having this problem too. I look foward to the date its fixed, and in the mean time keep on fishin on.

Hello
I am new here. I have had this problem from day 1 on my laptop and desktop. If I have maast.org entered in on my google toolbar I might need to hit go 5 or 6 times to get here. I have cleared all temp internet files and deleted all browsing history. It works fine the first time, but when I return the same thing. Any ideas?
Thanks, Brad

well back to the drawing board then
I will have to see what else could be causing the problem

All efforts are greatly appreciated. I might add, when I log in, its only good for that one link jump. If I click on a second link, requiring member access, such as view pictures, I have to re-login. Are these two problems related?

try going to the maast home page instead of the forums. log in there and check the remember me box. that may help with your log in issue.

I tried it again for good measure. I go to homepage log in (click remember me), click on forum and I am bumped out again. Ai chihuaha. What do ya'll have against new members? haha I kid I kid.

It should be, but at this point I can't say I'm going to go into the code and re-write some stuff today, so the site may look funky for a little while

I still got the "security token missing" BUT :whew:I am staying logged in when I shift to different pages. What if I tried a new member name and started over fresh?

greenmako
Tue, 23rd Sep 2008, 10:56 AM
no I'm just going to have to re-code the pages to make sure all of the Security tokens are put in all the pages. I will try to have it done by this weekend

I get the security token error each and every time I attempt to connect to the site both at work and at home. I've sent at least 2 emails asking for help but I guess with the error they are not getting through. I've cleared the cache and used various browsers.

I noticed about a week ago the issue seemed to be resolved. This week I am out of state checking in and can report no issues. Upon returning I am now considering applying for a membership. Before, the security token was fixed, I was not all that interested.

Thanks for the support.

I started having the security token problem this past weekend. It took a lot of work, but I finally got into the User CP and turned the DST setting to off. Haven't had any problems since then . . . as I knock on wood.

ok please post if you have the problem again after you clear your internet cache and re-login to maast. I did too large updates and I'm currently running default templates to see if the problem goes away.
Thanks,
Brian
