I would love to hear more about your clowns. How old are they? How long before they started to breed for you? Any tips? :)

I've had my pr. for a yr. now, and they didn't start laying eggs until I got them a nice anemone!! Then it was about a month later with the eggs. I also have green chomis that lay eggs after a big water change !! One tip that helps is feeding frozen brine every night. Now my clowns have a batch of eggs every 10 days !! It takes 8 days for the eggs to hatch, and then in 2 days they lay another batch !! I now have 2 that are 17 days old and 30 that are a wk old, and a batch that will be ready on Fri. I'm tired already -- LOL

Once your clowns lay eggs do you remove the fry's.
I would love for my clowns to start having baby's. I have a pair of True percs. The female is yellow and the male is orange.

What type of anenome would you suggest for percs. I also have a maroon. Will he cause problems once an anenome is added? right now they all get along in a 135 reef set up

Will the breed in a big tank or do you need a breeding tank

i don't think the condy will be a suitable host for your maroon clowns. entacmaea quadricolor (bubble tips) are the preferred anemones for these fish. now, this is a generalization, there have been a few instances where they do host-but the key word is 'few'.

Do clowns need a Anenome to breed

no, clowns do not need an anemone to spawn. the requirement of an anemone is a false truth. in the wild, they're symbiotic relationship actually has a purpose. the clownfish is protected by the anemones tentacles, and the anemone is protected by the clownfish. but in a captive tank this is hardly a problem because we, as responsible caregivers, wouldn't put direct predators in our tanks to harass and attack these organisms.

if your pair is provided a suitable environment, they will begin to spawn. a separate tank is not necessary for this. however, proper husbandry techniques do urge for the use of separate tanks for the raising of the hatching and raising of the fry.
