I am referring to the new submersible pumps and NOT the powerheads. I am looking for something for my chiller and top-off units. I find the powerheads to just stop working at times. Of course, they would run continuously on the chiller and only as needed on the top-off.

If you have used, what is your experience so far? Has anyone seen them at the LFS's in Austin?

Why not just buy Eheim and buy a known quality the first time?

They won't fit in the back chamber of my Current Solana. I will be running my chiller which will be about 3' below the top of the tank.

I love eheims but I don't think their smaller submersibles will provide enough flow.

Ah I see.

I just have a very hard time trusting anything labeled "Marineland". Somehow they seem to make products that perform worse than Coralife. I thought all that Marineland stuff was sold at the pet retailer stores.

It is weird, if you check their website it is like they have two lines, the typical "crap" like penguin powerheads and then Maxi-jets. I suspect they do have a "cheaper" line for the typical pet stores and then there new tanks (which are pretty awesome with low iron glass) and these new pumps which have a 3 YEAR WARRANTY!!

Yea, I saw that they were called "Euro" so I ordered the 1800 model off of That Fish Place. It was like $30 cheaper than the same model at MarineDepot. I will let everyone know what it is like and post some pics.

Well, I bought the new marineland maxi-jet submersible pump (model 1800) best price by far was That Fish Place. This pump is DEAD silent, powerful and running my Current 1/10th HP chiller quite well. I LOVE the pump body on this thing.

It pushes 474 gph at 0' head and you can swap the cover for a another that will let you run tubing off the intake and outtake. It is smaller than the eheims and MUCH cheaper.

I was impressed with the construction of this thing. It is sitting above my return pump in the back of my Solana.

I did have to buy a 3/4" garden hose adapter for 1/2 tubing to match the in and outs on my chiller and it is working fine. Got that at home depot for $1.50.

If you don't mind my asking, how much did you pay for that pump?

It was $48.98 at That Fish Place.

Nice, I saw one at a workshop at MACNA.
I think I will order one too. Do you have any pics of it in your back chamber?

Sean,

Here is the best I could get. You can see the adapter I added from Home Depot and the tubing. You can sort of see the stock pump below the Maxi-Jet pump. The gray thing is the JBJ ATO float and the other gray is extra holders from JBJ ATO that I connected the outflow tube to.

Does the pump run your chiller and return? Or just the chiller?

Just the chiller, the return pump is the stock pump that came with it (not even sure the brand). Since I don't use the return pump for flow, I just kept the stock pump that came with it.

Hey Lee,
How is the pump holding up?

I just ordered the 1100 to replace my mag 5 return, can't wait to try it out!
