I have a white BTA and it was looking great for a while, my clown was hosting it, its tentacles actually looked like bulbs, but now half of the tentacles are completely deflated and its mouth is open a little bit. Its been looking worse and worse everyday. When I got it the tentacles were super sticky and actually stung me pretty good. My finger was tingly and red for a few hours. Its not eating anymore and I don't want it to die!!! My clown won't even host it anymore.

Here is my parameters:
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 0
PH 8.2
Phosphate 0
KH 12
Calcium 480
Temp ranges from 78F-81F

The only things I dose are Seachem Vitamins and Aminos, and feed DTs Live Phyto, Cyclopeeze, flake and frozen mysis.

If the anemone was white, it was probably bleached...

As Erik said, it's possible your clown beat it up.

So there are not any white BTAs naturally?

As for my clown, he is the meanest clown I've ever had. I can't put my hand in the tank for anything without him biting me. And he has left several marks on me before.

Its foot is still the tan looking color. The tentacles are white with white tips.

I've got a white BTA, too. The oral disc got to about 10" before he freaked me out and split in two on me over the weekend. ;) I've had him for about a year now. Could something have torn the foot on yours?

I have seen btas that were naturally white tipped, or have white flakes on rose and green bta. None of the Entacmaea quadricolor anemones are naturally completely white. A white bta is unhealthy ..some will regain their color if given the proper food, light and no clown using it as a host. Natural colors are brown, orange, red, purple and green. Some are four of these colors all at once..probably the reason why they call them quadricolor.
If you want to give your bta a chance, keep the clown away from it untill it has completely regained its zooxanthellae.
People on RC alway refer people with btas to this site.. www.karensroseanemones.com (http://www.karensroseanemones.com) this site has a lot of great information on btas.

I gotta politely argue in favor of the existence of white BTAs. I don't know what color to call mine other than white, although it does have the faintest hint in the tips, and the foot is a peachy tan color. It tends to bubble up after it eats like the site you referenced mentioned some of hers do. It has grown from an oral disc the size of a silver dollar when I got the tank about a year ago to a good 10" before it split, and it's had a GSM hosting in it for as long as I've owned it. I agree COMPLETELY that if your anemone used to be colored but has turned white, there's a definite problem. However, based on the experience I've had with mine, there do seem to be some healthy BTAs out there that are naturally almost colorless. My respectful two cents' worth... ;)

RC has had this arguement before..I'm just going by the information given. I have heard about some btas can remain white and still live long lives. I don't think they were naturally white to begin with. Here is the link to the pictures of white speckled btas and white tipped btas that I was talking about. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=1330761 Phil has a beautiful speckled rbta that I envy.

I know its gorgeous isn't it..I saw a green speckled one at darbys tropicals a while back. Checked on it again a few weeks later I saw it wasn't doing well so it must of died. I so wanted it but at that time I just bought a pricey purple long tentacle anemone.

That website was awesome. Thanks a lot for that. Evidentally it is definitely a bleached BTA and is starving!!! Its looking better today but I'm going to try target feeding it by using a syringe to inject mysis directly into its mouth and see if it doesn't get better. Karen on the website seatrueblue referred has some bleached RBTAs and they seem to be doing fine. We'll see what happens.

Thanks again for all the comments.
