for starters I have never fragged a chalice....but my understanding is that a good way to frag a chalice is to use a dremel on the back of the coral. Cut thru most of the bone before the flesh and then use a knife to cut the rest/flesh. Your chances of survival are much higher if each frag as a least one eye.

You can use a Tile Saw. It has got to be the most useful LPS fragging tool. The cheap ones only cost about $50 or so.

A dremel works best. I've done it many times. Just use the cutting disk and cut the backside of the chalice. I always try and make sure it has at least 2 eyes. The more eyes the better chance of survival.

Thanks for the info on fragging a chalice. I was wondering on the survival rate once fragged. Glad to know that the chance of survival is better with more eyes per frag. I have used a dremmel for fragging other corals. Any ideas on fragging a meteor shower?

The saw or dremel should be just fine on the cyphastrea as well. According to Calflo, just shove it into the saw flesh side first.
