I have these "things" on some of my rocks. I was told they may be "Hydroids", but they do not seem to look like the pictures of hydroids I researched. Has anyone ever seen these before?

yeah, the "tube" destroys easily, seems fragile when touched. I'm worried about spreading them that way though. I guess no one has seen these before.

They have been in my tank for about 3 months without any noticable spread!

They look like fan worms to me, if so, they're good little filter feeders.

I have them too, don't seem to spread or cause any harm, atm.

not sure what they are either.... i used to think they were hydroids when they first appeared in my tank, but they dont spread and take over like some say hydroids do. mine have not caused any problems.

I dont not think they are feather dusters. I have alot of feather dusters on other rocks and they dont seem to be the same!

There is a lot of variation in size and color in the family, I have some that appear very similar to these as well as some that have different color tubes and crowns. I believe they are all annelids, but I could be mistaken.

The crowns do not suck into the tubes when you touch or get near them like the rest of my feather dusters!

thanks for everyone's help! Still not sure what they are, but i do agree that they seem not to be spreading fast. (knocking on wood) they aren't very easy on the eyes though....
