Have you looked into the Current USA Solana 34g? They are a lot nicer than the Nano-Cubes/Aquapods, IMO.

Yes I agree Solana or Red Sex Max are the way to go. I had a biocube for a while and was happy with it but something around 35g is better and give you enough room to have some decent aquascaping. Not to mention Solana and Red Sea give you a really great product.

I'm really happy with my new Finnex 30G. It's the smallest, but probably also the easiest, saltwater tank I have ever had. The only addition from stock I've made was a Koriala 2 and I'll need to add a heater, of course, at some point in the next couple of months.

I think the Solana or Red Sea Max (I have one) are both good. I also like the DSA neo-nano, but dont know much about it except the one I saw in action a while back at Aquadome.

is there any other anyone would recommend? $800 is a bit too pricey, i would have to buy it online because of where i live, thanks

Come on up to Corpus. A sponsor of ours here in town has the Red Sea Max. Will beat the on line price.

Red Sea Max is a pretty aquarium. I do have the JBJ HQI with upgrades from nanotuners.com. I'm really, really happy with it. Previously I had a BioCube with PCs and the JBJ with the halide is a world of difference.

You have PM :)

I would only be guessing.....and dont want to get myself in trouble there,
give the sponsor a call. I am sure it will be worth the time and the drive.

Darn, was hoping I'd be the first to recommend DSA's neo nano. Here's a great link to DSA's website w/video. These are awesome little tanks.

If you're ever in SA, see Gabe over at Alamo Aquatics. He was going to order the neo nano w/o stand for less than $250 until I changed my mind and went w/a 60 cube. AA has some of the best prices in South Texas on aquariums.

ok, i finally saved up enought to get a Solana or a Red Sea Max,, im going for one of these because they are bot 2 feet wide, and thats all i can work with, so now to decide, im leaning more wiht the Red Sea Max because i think i will need to buy a chiller for the solana and i dont want to do that, so now i want to hear fro you guys, Pros and Cons, how loud are they, low maintenace, all you guys experience on these two, thanks

Well, the problem with the Red Sea Max is the lighting. PCs just really don't cut it for some corals. With the Solana with a pendant or the JBJ HQI you've got a metal halide lamp, so you can grow anything under the sun. Depending on the temp of the room it'll be in you might not even need a chiller on the Solana. I've got a 29G Biocube with 150w HQI and it maxes out around 81 degrees without a chiller. Hell, I've even noticed a degree to degree and a half temperature drop after adding the Vortech MP20.

dabudkrew

i think thats the stock lighting, it says that on the light specs

RayAllen
Fri, 12th Sep 2008, 03:35 PM
Yes that is correct, RSM stock lighting is T5s

dabudkrew
Fri, 12th Sep 2008, 03:40 PM
well im about to place my order on a RSM right now, so will post later on to see how things go

Actually, RSM stock lighting is PCs, technically they're T5s because they're folded over 5/8" bulbs, but lacking the individual reflectors of T5s which is what increases their efficiency so much. The new RSM 55 gallon tank uses actual T5s, rather than PCs.

thats what i remember reading. thanks

ok so what should i do with my live rock? it does have algea everywhere now since i dont have any equipment, i just have the lights still on a timer, should i wait till i get the RSM to place it in there and get a cleaning crew to clean it up? i have bad cyano and bubble algae, i think im going to replace the sand only

If you only have the LR and it's covered in algae start doing small daily water changes and make the rock completely dark. Drape a comforter or something over the tank to black it out. The bacteria (what we really want from the LR) won't be effected at all. You may even still grow out copepods. Blocking the light will kill the algae and doing daily water changes will remove the waste from the dying algae helping to prevent recurring outbreaks.

can i water from my old tank and place it in my new one, or half old and half new? what would be a good clean up crew for a RSM?

My brother-in-law just purchased one a few weeks ago and he loves it. We spent the weekend performing mods to it. I love the sleek look of it.

Good buy in my opinion.
