Mounting DE MH ?s

I am rebuilding my canopy for my 40g breeder and have a few questions.

1. Do I mount the MH parallel to the tank or perpendicular to the tank?

2. How high off the water should they be?

3. Should both canopy fans blow into the canopy or one in and one out?

Any input would be appreciated.

In my 39g I have my DE MH running parallel because of the tank size and its approx 8" off the water. Running the fans in and out would allow for much better air circulation.

Remember that the MH will approx cover a area of 2x2.
