Excellent job Bernie. LMK how the growthdoes with the T-5's. Is it a new fixture or a retro fit?? What Ballast are you using??

Looks great Bernie! So you had T5's before in your other tank right? Then you went MH for the 240 and now your back to T5's?

I've personally never used MH, do you like the T5's that much more?

Thanks for the compliments! I am using a retrofit with 16 4 foot bulbs of which half are overdriven with IceCap 660 ballasts.

Jamie... Yes I had T5's on my first tank. I went with halides for the 240g but was not happy with the spread. I had to strategically place the corals in my tank to keep them happy. I have a short canopy and can't fit larger reflectors so my other option was T5's. Now my corals get a ton of light anywhere I place them.

Awesome tank, that's some good looking coral. I'd be interested in seeing how those zoas respond to your new lighting.

Got to see it in person today and it looked awesome. I saw it with the previous MH lighting as well . One thing I noticed about the T5 was how much more intense the colors seemed to be especially on the zoas.

Love it!
Can you tell us more about the lights please...is it a fixture or retro? What kind of reflectors?

Thanks all! I am using a retro 16X54W. Half of the bulbs are overdriven with IceCap 660's. All bulbs are on IceCap reflectors.

All I can say is WOW!

Generally a tank looks better in person than in a pic, but I think these T5 pics look better than when I saw the tank with the MH lighting. I need to get reflectors.... :)

Thanks Rychek! I agree that the tank looks better with the t5's since I am getting more light coverage and my bulb combo brings out the colors of the corals.
