I have a 24" 4x24w T-5 light with a polished aluminum reflector.
I would have this fixture about 6" off the surface of the water (or less).
My question is this would be my frag tank and I was wondering what I could keep under this.
So far i was thinking:
Frogspawn
Hammer
GSP
Various zoas and palys
Mushrooms
Ricordeas
Various leathers
Toadstools
Trumpets
Torch
MAYBE:
Montis
Acans
Blaso
Fungias
Please tell me which will and won't work and if theres anything else I can grow under these conditions (besides xenia and kenyas :p)
Thanks! And I will be dosing calcium and alk and keeping them in range for the LPS and maybe the SPS, as this tank will be inline.

how big is the tank and what are the dimensions

Well the frag tank itself is 30"x12"x12" and 20g (I think).
I do realize that the light is shorter than the tank, but I was going to divide off 6" of the tank for the intake and outflow. I would also be careful of sweeper tentacles on some of the corals.

that shallow a tank with those T-5s, I think you will be fine with all the above.

Ok sweet, but how about the maybe list? I think as a good rule though I'm just going to go with fragging sps out of the Dt which has 250w metal halide.

i agree with dr Mark just keep an eye on your water things can turn for the worst in small tanks.

Im not worried about the parameters because this tank will be inline like a sump with my 30g, so it will be more stable.

you can grow anything I am almost certain. That tank is very shallow and even with a uni-reflector you should be fine. I have 6x24w T5 on my 58 and its 18" deep... No corals other than softies at this moment though.

So even sps? I would'nt grow the higher price sps in there, just various montis and stuff. Anyway thanks for all the feedback, this should be setup (if I can earn enough) around October when I get a job.

You should be fine with SPS in the upper half of the tank. Not sure where Georgetown is, but I can frag you some small things to try out and see if they grow well.

Well when my main starts I'll let you guys know (because I love the idea of frags, especially on my budget). I also kinda wanted to ask you guys about some of the frag stuff.
I was just wondering if in general people prefered to recieve frags on plugs. I was thinking of going with the home depot ceramic tile idea for everything except for sps, which I would grow on plugs.
Heres a link to a guys custom frag tank on the saltwaterfish.com fourms, and I personally think its one of the better DIY frag tanks. I liked his shelving system and his DIY wet/dry.
