I have a 48g, and I just took a chance. Ace drilled it for 2x2" holes for a calfo style overflow or as I think RayAllen may have dubbed it the "Calflow". :) Worse comes to worse you will have to buy a new pane and reseal it. Mine is being used to house cuttlefish. How long is that tank? Looks like you may be able to house a 29g under there! I have a EuroReef RS80 on mine.

Why not do a softy reef with dwarf lions or A really cool Angler and Small Moray eel.

oh yeah, look under the lip of the aquarium, usually you can find a piece of paper with some info on it. Also, try plugging the dimensions in google.

Thanks for the replies! the tanks is 29 1/2 Long x 20 Tall x 19 3/4 Deep! so its not quite a cube! I think Im going with the softy/lion route! So should i go rimless or not?

Not if you decide to put an eel in it. I had to load my tank down with gutter guard until I got a nice glass top. Maybe rimless to get it up and running, but I wouldn't suggest it after you start adding fish. It looks like a REALLY nice tank. :)

well if you want to go rimless, lighting is where your concern lies. How and what to do. I saw and came very close to a maristar fixture 150w and 2x24w T5. Very sleek and nice fixture, remote ballast and all. Do you have any polarized sunglasses? I have heard that polarized sunglasses will tell you if the tank is tempered or not. I know in a car polarized sunglasses make some "spots" visible on your windows, I assume from being tempered. I would also assume that not seeing these would indicate a tank safe to drill.

I just took a chance. :)

An easy way to tell if it's tempered or not is to put it out in the sun and look at it through a pair of polarized sunglasses. If you see hints of a grid like pattern don't drill, if not put some holes in it. The "grids" can be faint, so make sure you look it over well.

Edit: I didn't notice at first, but Scorpino beat me to the punch!!

Ok I will try that! Thanks guys! As for lighting, I was thinkin about 1 full size lumenarc III. I was going to build a canopy that hovered above the tank about 10''. The canopy would be mounted to the wall so i would not have wires or hangers dropping down from the ceiling!

What size holes would you drill in this tank? How many? and where?

Ok so I guess Im going to use the Calfo style overflow on this tank! Should I go the full length of the tank? I plan on two 1'' bulkheads for the overflow. Im not sure how to do the return! I wanted to use a squid for the wave affect! What would be the easiest way for me to do this?

Thanks
Dustin

Anyone?

Going full lenght of the tank is a True Calflow and would provide optimal surface skim. Ive never used a aquid so cant help you there.

Thanks Ray! Would 2 1'' bulkhead be ok for the overflow if I did a true calflow?
