okay, so we bought this beautiful fish from a fellow maast member along with a Nice Red Lobster.. Verry cool to look at.

Everyone is doing okay before we left to a bbq. Came back home and looked at the tank and now half of my Zoa's are gone.. What happened? Who did it? Was is the TRIGGER fish? I have heard & read about their being not REEF SAFE and vise versa.

We have the following fish, 3 Chromis,1 Pj, 1 Jawfish,3 Percs in a tank full of softies and some SPS, turbo snails & crabs all in a 125. Everyon was doing good prior to our new addition, as much as I would like to not blame it on the new guys I have no choice as I read that the Trigger is not reef same. What do you all guys/gals think? Should he go to a new home or keep em.. I like him but if he is going to cost me all of my softies and sps then he's got to go..

Let me know what you all think.. In the event that he is not fit for our aquarium he will definatly be up for sale price $25. Hope to hear what you all think..

More than likely it was the niger. I don't think they are reef safe nor the red lobster .

I seriously doubt it was the Niger. They pretty much leave all corals alone, they do eat shrimp or crabs that are added to the tank after they are established. Are you sure the ZOA'a are gone and not just closed up. If it was one of your new additions , my money is on the lobster.

I would put my money on the lobster too. I think the lobster is much more of a grazer than a triggerfish. I haven't had any problems with my bjtrigger and my corals. He eats big things when I drop them into the tank like pellets and krill, and occasionally I've seen him nip at some pods and bristleworms.

If anything I'd be worried about your trigger nipping at the other fish you currently have.

i would think it was that trigger as they are not reef safe. they will also eat your snails and crabs. i had one in my reef tank before i knew what i know now. i had the same problem. most triggers are not reef safe as far as i know

Hi all,

After a careful & watchful eye it seems Trigger fish & lobster are doing okay and not bothering any one. Im keeping my fingers crossed. On this one. We put the last of the live rock we needed in yesterday and Trigger was loving it. Here is a few pictures of him.

Please keep in mind: In the event that he decides to do some destruction, he will be up for sale. Mr. Lobster too..
