I would like to know if on a 55 gal tank, is a wet/dry filter and protien skimmer enough filtration? My water just doesn't seem to be that clear. Should I add more filtration, and if so what kind? Thanks justin

If want you might be able to add a filter sock! If you have the room! Some people like them and some dont. I use one for 2 or 3 days after i do a water change. Then i leave it off for the next few weeks. They have there ups and downs like everything else!

wet/dry and skimmer should work just fine. What we need to find out is why your water isnt "Clear". What are you water paremeters? Nitrites, Nitrates, Ammonia etc....

Just a note, wet drys can eventually lead to higher concentrates of Nitrates which in some reef tanks can cause a problem. Ive found that in softy reefs wet drys tend to be ok because the corals are less sensitive but if you plan on LPS or SPS I would rid yourself of the bioballs and replace with LR rubble or Macro Algae. Either will help keep you paremeters in check and also serve as a breeding ground for helpfull inverts such as Copepods.

run some carbon

I agree, carbon can really help with clarity.

I agree with trying carbon, especially if the water is yellowish.
