I've been looking around for an .22 lately, so just checking to see if anyone here might want to get rid of one. New or used, any brand, I'm just looking for a practical fairly cheap one for some hunting and some target stuff.

Thanks,
Aaron

I'm pretty sure all walmarts stopped carrying firearms, and anyways I was kind of looking for something a bit better than that.

I have a Ruger 10/22 - but not for sale. They are decent rifles, semi-auto. Can usually be had at gun shows for around $100.

Some Wal-Marts still carry rifles and rifle/pistol ammo. They stopped selling them at certain stores where sales were low or they had problems with complying with federal guidelines. From talking to a manager at a store that stopped selling, it got to where no employees wanted to sell them because of the repercussions of messing up the paperwork involved.

Anyway, it's hard to go wrong with a Ruger 10/22. They are good guns and both Wal-Mart and Academy sell them. The price varies depending on which model you get (different stocks/barrels). Once it gets closer to fall, Academy might advertise them, right now they are too busy with back to school clothing!

As mentioned, the SAXET gun show is this weekend at Freeman. Costs $2 or $3 to park and then $5 to get in. Sometimes you can find good deals there and sometimes the prices are about the same as regular retail. I recommend going on Saturday instead of Sunday as the last show was picked over pretty good by Sunday noon.

another vote for a ruger 10/22 great shooting guns and can take a lot of abuse.
depending on what you are wanting to do with it check out a .17 . They are basically a 22 mag necked down to a .17 cal. Extremly accurate unless you have a lot of wind plus they come out at around 2200 fps. They cost a little more to buy and shoot than a .22 but are great for varmits.

Yeah, .17's are cool too. My friend has a rifle that shoots the .17 HMR and when you shoot a filled coke can it will make it explode!

If you are going to be around Buda anytime soon, Cabela's has the Ruger 10/22 wood stock/blue barrel on sale for $179.99, regular $199.99. That is through August 10th from what it shows in their ad. Of course Academy shows it online for $184.99 regular price so it's not much of a deal.

check out gunbroker.com. i have a marlin 99g that is tiger striped camo and simmmons scope on it. it is pretty accurate as well, although it is not for sale. i like the .17 hmr as well, but it is cheaper to shoot the .22
