I got a magnesium salifert test today and make out what they mean on step six. It says hold the syringe with the tip facing upward and read the postion of the upper end of the black syringe part. Each division corresponds to 0.01 ml. The magnesium concentration can be obtained from the table or by use of the following equation: ppm Mg = (1 - reading step 6) x 1500. Now when i face the tip upward do i start counting the lines from the black rubber to where the water is or from where the water is to the tip?

I interpreted it as reading from where the liquid starts up to the tip of the syringe. That way you aren't including the rubber stopper, only the liquid.

It's a weird test and I hope I've been doing it correctly.

You read from the end of black rubber part in the syringe

So you read from the rubber to the tip right? I counted 28 lines so that will be 0.28 x 1500 = 420ppm is that right?

^^^That is correct

Yup, don't pay attention to the liquid, just the black rubber. It was on 1.0 when you started titrating, right?
