 Is this beautiful thing as rare as I think it is? Golden and orange crocea? I've never seen one before.

they have some nice clams, but be careful. i noticed that the place of origin of some of their clams is vietnam.....

i recently added a clam that probably came from vietnam and it wiped out my entire clam collection. there is a disease that many clams from vietnam carry that will eventually kill them and any other clams housed with em. i think it is called perkinsus (http://www.underwatertimes.com/print.php?article_id=72095341106)

Wow, never heard of that. Good thing to know since a lot of grade 1 croceas are coming from there.

BTW, yes that is a beautiful clam.

Any chance that the disease "causes" grade 1 clams? IE: bleaching hideously ugly Sebae anemones into white/flourescent green instead of the natural dull brown. Maybe the disease creates some chemical reaction that cause the photreceptors to bleach or mutate leading to their untimely, but colorful, death.

what i saw of it in my tank was that it just killed them. one day the clams would look normal in coloration and would be fully extended, the next day they would be dead. it also didnt kill them all at once. it took a few weeks for me to lose all of my clams.
