i am setting up a 90 gal bow front with a hood, and trying to figure out the best configuration of lights. The tank is 12" wide on each end x 48" long. Inside the hood that space is limited to between 10" and 11" wide. The tank depth is 26" not counting sand bed. I have an idea what i am going to do, but would be interested in the opinion of others, especially if you have a bow front. I know the first question will be what are you going to have in the tank. answer Newbee not exactly sure..

you can probably get about 6 - 48" retro t-5s with individual reflectors

that was the plan but 6 t5's is about 15" wide, i would be limited to 4 each

is 4 x 54 enough for that depth of tank. what would be my limitations as far as what i could keep.

If you go reef, id say 2 250 watt HQI MH is the way to go.

my issues would be the heat, and lack of any color spectrum. then there is the added cost of power and price of lights.

I have the same footprint as you and I managed to cram two PFO mini pendants (250wHQI) and 6 36" T5s under the hood. :)

If you use T5s you will have to use aquatinics reflectors! They are only 2'' wide, so you could crame 6 in there! My buddy has same setup as you with 2 250w MH and 2 T5s for actinic supplement, and he keeps SPS with very good results!
