View Full Version : My Adventures with Monti-eating nudis

Well, in spite of a did and inspection, I ended up finding Montipora eating nudibranches on one of my Danae colonies. This was a new colony that was recently introduced. I assumed that since no pest fell off in the dip (TMPCC), that I was in the clear. Oops. Since I didn't (still don't) know what the eggs clusters looked like, I missed them.

So, last night I started my new regimen of removal of that colony, dip in TMPCC, and scraping of egg clusters. Problem is, I still do not know what I am really looking for. I new the nudi's were small, but infinitely smaller than I was expecting. What I thought was one, turned out to be a cluster of about 8 nudis. I must have removed about a dozen or so, but I am sure there are more. So, if the eggs are even smaller, I'm blind without a guide. I've followed some other threads on this pest, but most either end without closure (Melev, how did you fare?) or end with complete Monti decimation/removal.

Can anyone post a really good picture of the egg clusters?

So, here are my pics:

The Damage.

The Cause (if you squint, and stare at this for a while, you *Might* see the nudi). There is one climbing the side glass of this bowl.
