Even If I hang my lighting (250w Mh and 2x65w actinics) would I have heating issues in my 30g tank? What if I had a 20g sump/frag tank on it?

You will have heat issues with that bulb on that size tank. I had an Aquapod 24 with a 150w halide running open top and had heat issues.

Yes you'll have some heat issues. You can try using fan(s) to push air across the top of the tank. From there it would be on how cold you keep your room temp at.

Agree, you will have heat issues.
Solved with a 1/10hp chiller.

I think that before I go investing in a Chiller, I'll see how the tanks temp fairs in the current weather. If I can control it now, I can control it anytime. I think That I'll get some used fans by Icecap, or just a small store bought fan to blow the top ofd te water. If I absolutely need a chiller what brands are good for 50g of water?

Current/prime chillers are reasonably priced. You'll most likely be looking at a 1/4hp model or maybe a 1/5hp depending on how hot your h2o gets. Just remember that a chiller inside a room will turn an already hot room into an oven. Have you thought about trying a window unit in the the aquarium's room? That might be a cheaper alternative in the meantime.

Any fans you add will speed up your evaporation. Do you have an Auto Top Off solution for adding back water? With a smaller sized tank this change will be more noticable.

i have just a regualr 29g rectangle..and i have a hood with a 250w and 2x24w t5...i had my hood pretty high like a whole foot above the water and my water stayed at 78..now i lowered it about 6"-8"...i keep the fan on my room running constantly and the temp in the house is about 76..so now it stays at 79...there is a whole lot of evaporation..and the hood has two fans on either side..but idk i dont think thats too bad.. once i saw it get up to 82 but that was because the fan wasnt on..if ur not keeping anything too sensitive a 1-2 degree change might not matter so much..i think

If you need a chiller, the one that Kurt has FS is a superb unit for your tank and anything up to about 75g.
