Ok everyone knows that the looks of your aquarium matters and makes you feel proud of what you have accomplished.... But the question yet remains Do you have to put a backround for your aquarium??:sarcastic:

If it's against a wall I say yes to a background....of course coraline will cover it and your rock scape but some times it doesn't cover it all.

For me a solid black or blue is a must for a background and preferably painted on with no streaks.

I usually opt for a solid black background, gives a good contrast to the tank inhabitants.

I have black on my 48 and blue on my 75.

imo black allows for much more contrast, which in turn makes your corals pop.

I agree w/the black background. We have a black background in our tank and I just removed all coraline from the back. The corals just pop at you w/black, what beautiful contrast IMO.

I like the black as well. I bought the black stuff that you apply with soap. Then I spray painted another tank. The spray paint was cheaper just as easy and looks just as good.

I think a "Dark Blue Background" looks awesome. It reminds me of the ocean. But that's just me.

I've been thinking about doing a blue to dark blue to black fade whenever I set up a larger system. I think that would look pretty sweet.

I wanted to try a mirror, but didnt know if it would look right! I think it would make the tank look alot bigger!

Whould that drive your fish crazy? I am pretty sure it would.
I like the solid black background too. It makes my corals stand out and hides the powerheads better.

i also like the black background simply because it makes powerheads less visible. i had a red background once......i didnt like it all that much.
