I've noticed recently that whenever I turn my return pump back on after I feed that a bunch of these white flakes come flying out of my return into my display. They disappear after a few minutes but it worries me & is annoying. Any ideas what it is?

Nothing to worry about I guess? There a way of preventing this?

Texreefer is right. Sounds like calcium build-up. Should be harmless, but have you checked you Ca levels lately. My pumps did that for a while, but my h2o was out of balance and the Ca levels had risen above 500 meq/l.

No. I will just build up in the pipe crevices from time to time. Don't worry, it's normal.

Last week they were around 450 or so. I'll check tomorrow.

You're good then. Like everyone says, it's harmless.

I have those flexible loc-line fittings, I think they get caught in those crevices.
