I don't know what made me look at this part of the tank today but here it is ...it looks like the middle support beam is ripping apart.

Did I find it soon enough to fix it?

Id either fix it or have is fixed. Looks like you could clamp the tank to its normal position and use fiberglass to heal the wound. Doing both sides wouldnt be a bad idea..If it were my tank, Id definately fix it!

The brace keeps the tank from bowing outward and coming apart. I recommend fixing it ASAP.

Isn't there any super glue or some thing to stop this thing from getting any worse?

Superglue wont work, you need an overlying structure to connect both halvs, that why the glass method is being suggested, its not that difficult at all, little messy maybe but pretty easy. Id take hobo's offer up if I were you if youre not confident enough.

I've used JB Weld with success in the past on cracks on aquarium trim.

You can try to strap it for now while you figure out what next.

Looks like we are going to have to get another tank no matter what. They all can't go in the 29g. I have two A Chrysopterus aka blue striped clowns in the 29g. That 29g tank has been treated with cupramine almost two months ago. So putting my inverts in the 29 is out. :(

you dont have to empty the tank. you just need to drop the water level a few inches for the 24 hours that it takes for the silicone to cure. as long as you have good circulation and maybe and air line in the tank, everything should be fine.

Oh ok..that sounds better ..I was freaking out a bit thinking I would have to empty the tank.

Does anyone have a plastic tub (used for a frag tank) I can borrow or buy? I prefer to borrow because I don't think I would have much use for it after I transfer everything out of my display.

They have them at Walmart for real cheap or you can use a kid pool too.

I need to find a big black tub.. I figure if the walls of the tub are black, it will be less stressful for the fish.

We are going to take this as an opportunity to finally put tile under the aquarium. I gotta find some thing for the fish to feel comfortable in while all this is going on.
So, no one has one I can borrow????

update
everything is fine now, we found out that our 120g marineland aquarium has a warranty that lasts for up to 20 years. So, it was replaced for free..yay. In the mean time we are keeping our fish rocks and corals in a 56g that we got for a good price. Yesterday we noticed some thing upsetting. Our refugium for the 120 was apparently not getting enough air. Almost everything in the refugium died near the air stone that wasn't putting in enough air. We lost bristle worms and amphipods, some are still alive but there was a huge die off. We are thinking about redoing the fuge with refugium mud. Before we were just using live sand. I wonder if the fuge mud is better than just using live sand?
