Most people use the B-Ionic, its proven itself to one of the best additives you can use.

Welcome!

B-Ionic here. Its cheap and works the best.

You can make your own but sometimes its more trouble of gathering up the supplies than what its worth...

diy 2-part will be the cheapest. go to www.bulkreefsupply.com (http://www.bulkreefsupply.com) and look at the magnesium and calcium they have. i havent tried their alk so i cant tell you how well it dissolves. i made 2 gallons of calcium from a one gallon bucket from their website, and still have a lot left over. magnesium will last you forever since you dont use it often, but its helpful to have around when it drops.

i just followed these recipes: http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2006-02/rhf/index.php

and use this calculator: http://home.comcast.net/~jdieck1/chemcalc.html

I've been using the DIY recipes from Bulk Reef Supply for several months now with good results. I highly recommend it since it's a good deal less expensive than the B-Ionic I used to use, and as far as I've been able to tell, just as effective.
