i recently aquired a beckett skimmer with an aquarium i bought second hand. I can not get the skimmer to produce anything but larger than desired bubles. Any experts with beckett skimmers. it is a single intake apperantly made by "onthereef" and (Pete) if that helps.

i might be able to help, do you have a picture?, usually the reason i get bubbles too big has to do with backpressure

We need to know what type of pump the previous owner was using. Pressure rated pumps are the way to go with becket skimmers.

Also make sure the becketts are clean.

The photobucket link does not work.

I can't remember if a pan world 150 is pressure rated or not. Either way, clean the becket out really good. Make sure there is nothing clogging the air intake. From there, it might take a few days to break in. You will have monitor it at first and adjust the air flow accordingly.

looks like is is in fact a pressure rated pump...

Model 150PS - equal to Iwaki MD55 Pressure rated
1100gph max flow
28 foot max head pressure
180 watts
1" MPT in/out
Footprint 5 x 12

Should be plenty to run that skimmer.
