I really would like to focus more on sps corals. The problem is that my cap is taking up a lot of room in the tank. I thought about breaking it up, but my wife doesn't want me to. Could I mount frags directly on the cap?

I would imagine there would be some SPS wars, especially once it starts to encrust over the glue and onto the monti.
Is it the one I got from you?

It's one of my favorites for sure. How's that purple valida? Did you have any success with it?

No, that probably won't work. Richard at CB coined the "Rule of SPS Wars": The cheapest, ugliest, brownest coral will always win the SPS War.

Yes, it is the one I sold to you.
Has it grown much?

yes! It's a very fast grower and I love it to pieces. The color of it is truly remarkable. :)
I am selling a frag of it (it broke when I moved it) and I dubbed it the ugly coral because it is exactly the opposite!!! I feel lucky to have it!

Good advice here, I wouldn't mount any other corals on the cap, especially since it grows so fast, eventually you'll have to move them anyway. I'm in the same dilemma and will probably end up breaking up my cap so I can have more room for frags or to spread out the ones I already have.

I ended up throwing my 16" across orange cap out when it hoarded too much real estate, and let me tell you before that, ANY sps that came in contact with it died! Or at least the branch that touched it.
