I've had a Pearscale for about 4 weeks and haven't seen it eat any of the food I put in the tank. I've tried mysis, brine, krill, copepods, etc plus various flake foods but it ignores everything and spends all its time grazing on the live rock. I don't know what its living on! My other bufferlies 2 x Bannerfish and a Copperband all eat OK. Anyone had a similar problem with a Pearlscale and any suggestions?

Try zoa's. They like zoa's. They also pick at the live rock looking for .

I've got some zoa's in my other tank, I'll try those. I was thinking of getting rid of them anyway! Thanks for the suggestion.

FYI, I took a rock covered with 100's of zoa polyps from my reef tank and put it in my FOWLR. The Pearlscale has been nipping at them all afternoon. So has my Blue Faced Angel! Expensive fish food!!!

Glad to hear it is eating. If it doesnt wing off of zoa's, your best bet is to purchase a dull looking colony of zoa's and keep it in your tank for them to feed on. Good luck.

I heard there was such a food available but haven't be able to find it!
The Pearlscale sure likes zoas, he's cleared an area of rock about 3" x 2" in three days. I'm running out of zoas, I've got to get him to take frozen food asap!

Well, your supposed to feed it to them gradually, not all at once. Just purchase some low end zoa's and feed them every other day or ever two days. You can also try clam and squid.

No wonder he's looking fat and happy! I tried to get some fresh clams and squid but my local HEB and Randalls don't sell it anymore. I guess I need to find somewhere that specializes in fresh fish. Don't know of any such place in Lakeway, SW Austin.

There is a fresh seafood store on Airport at the 290 intersection. Not close but. . .
