wow.... petsmart sells it for 65.99$ here.... on drsfoster and smith sells it for like 34.99. with like 9$ shipping, save alot of money.

but yea petco and petsmart sells them... but alot higher

Ain't that the truth. I've noticed that most big chain retailers gouge when it comes to salt. Yikes!!!! Stick to Dr. Fosters.

That is surprising, Petsmart used to be much less than that when I first started in the hobby.

Moneytank - probably just call a few of the LFS near you. It's been awhile since I made the rounds at the LFS, but I seem to remember some of them carrying it, I just can't remember which ones.

Like many salts, there are manufacturers and there are marketing companies. My understanding is that Kent has their own secret proprietary supplements that are added. I was a Kent salt fan for many years, until I had consistency problems.

Yeah, one company makes them all, but they are made according to the marketers mixture specifications. Kind of like all the private label (HEB/Albertsons/etc.) food you buy at the grocery store.

Ed there has been a few studies showing the diffrences between these three as well as others. For example some have more phosphates and calcium etc.....

i may just try to hold out till the dr. gets it back in stock.....for what its worth im going to be mixing coralife and reef crystals. between the two you get near perfect numbers.
to read what im talking about go to reefcentral under the reef chemestry section. at the top there is a sticky post about salts. it shows what everything mixes up to, as far as calcium, alk, and mag.
this is for the new 180 im setting up, for the 380 I may stick with instant ocean.

I'm thinking about switching salts anyways. I would like to switch to tunze or red sea pro. I am honestly not happy with coralife salt. I have to dose the tank with magnesium and strontium twice a week to see my LPS corals looking their best. The calcium readings is 520 tested with a salifert tester. The LFS here doesn't have coralife salt so thats my reason for going to petsmart. I don't remember the salt costing $65 last time I was there. I remember it being about $47.99 for a bucket of coralife salt. Last time I bought coralife salt it was $45 because of my petsmart pet perks card.

Must be the new flavor of the month...weren't they saying the exact same thing with a Reef Crystals / Oceanic mix or Reef Crystals / IO mix last year??? Can't remember which of the two it was....I am fairly happy with my Reef Crystals salt.

FYI: Just came back from Aquarium Designs... they have plenty of Coralife salt instock at $44.99.
And they're starting to get a nice selection of corals back into the store, too.

I think I saw some at river city in Austin. Reef Crystals has always done me right at at drsfostersmith its a couple bucks cheaper.
