do yall know a type that i can have in a 75 gal with 260 watt PC lighting that could give my false percs a home? i would really love to see my percs swimming in a anemone.

anemones require pristine water, and are better in an established system. Anemones can crash a tank when they die. If you want something for them to host in, try a coral first, like a leather, frogspawn, or a hammer...

Bubble tip seems to get the most recommendations. How old is the tank? Every recommendation I've seen is to have the tank up for at least a year before adding an anemone. Also, that amount of light may not be enough.

Good luck. I'm sure those with more experience will chime in later.

well ive seen percs host star poylps, and i hvae a piece about 4x4 with lke 150 polyps, and there pretty big, like half an inch tall... i set the tank up a little over a year ago.i have a refugium, and im getting a skimmer soon. i dont think 3.5 watts per gallon can take hammer, leather, or that other one someone said....ahh, frogspawn. ive read up on them and they all say high lighting

The problem is going to be water quality. Until a skimmer is running full bore on that system I would not add anything as it's simply a recipe for disaster.

also the watts per gallon thing is not accurate. Up until 2 weeks ago, I had 250w over a 75, 100g total. I was growing SPS. It's all in how it's lit, the bulb life, etc that matters.

I have two Clowns hosting a frogspawn under PC Quads doing great. (BTA did not do so well) This is a well established tank,(+3 years) bio-wheel, no skimmer, light fish load.

My other tank has been up over a year, w/skimmer, w/2 Clowns. The female always hosts my BTA, the male prefers Xenia, but has taken turns with BTA, Green Star, Pink Star and Monti. They have a mind of their own.

If you are concerned about those corals thriving in your current conditions, you should in no way consider any type of anenome yet. The soft corals / LPS mentioned are much heartier and more forgiving than the anenome.

There are some corals and even anenomes that can survive under PC lights but they are not going to thrive and grow. If they are not really thriving and growing, then really they're just dying very slowly. I am guilty of a slow death on a couple things as part of the learning curve, we probably all are. Just please note that the anenome needs to be added only after you have reached a very mature tank so that it is very stable and also consider waiting for stronger lighting.

I think I speak for most when I say that it is not wise to give direct yes or no answers on any marine forum. There are too many variables to every question that is asked in this hobby.
