I'm so tired of veggie clips only sticky for about a month and then they just start reversing the suction. I have tried all kinds and today marks the day that I will officially never use them again.
You won't get my $1 every month anymore!!!
I now will only attatch algae to rubberbands on my return pipe and a rock.
END.

Some take the suction cup off and stick a long wooden dowel or acrylic rod though the hole. It has worked for me in the past.

How about glueing magnets to both sides.

Just take the suction cup off and tie some fishing line to it. Then attach the line somewhere in your canopy.

If you have a Mag-Float algae scraper, you can just glue it to that.

The fish line method works great for me. I let the clip just break the surface of the water. That way it is almost invisible and easy to get to. It also lets you change algae without getting your hands wet.

I am using a fishing method too, tied the line to a Mag-float.

Some great ideas here! Wow, thanks.
I like the idea of not getting my hands wet with the fishing line....though the magnet idea is pretty cool too.
I have a mag float...that would be fun to watch the fish chase it when I'm cleaning....LOL
Fishing line will be my first try...
Thanks....was not expecting such a great response!

veggie clips are horrible. I just use my mag float--I don't glue anything to it, I just tear a long narrow peice of seaweed and stick it against the glass inside the tank, put the inside half of the magnet on it, then the outide, and move it down the bottom of the water column from the outside--without sticking my whole arm in the tank--just like when scraping algae. works great.

That is exactly what I do, only because I keep forgetting to buy one of those darn veggie clips when I go to the store...but I do like the idea of mounting it to the canopy and not getting your hands wet....and keeping it out of the tank.
