I've got this tank now with the dual overflows.

It's got the 2x250w MH 2x96w actinic 48inch coralife fixture as well.

What I'm wondering about is what I should do about a skimmer, calcium reactor, and anything else that's necessary...

Can an auto top-up be ran from a 5gallon bucket to the sump inside the stand? (Probably a dumb question, but I've never used an ATO system before.)

What are the drawbacks to using tahitian moon sand or black sand? is it possible to get this in an aragonite based version?

What about flow? It does have two return bulkheads, but nothing else.. should I add power heads and how can I increase flow without equipment in the tank?

There are two acrylic sumps that came with it, I'm not sure which one does what and what I'm supposed to put in each one... I assume one is for a refugium though and the skimmer and other stuff goes in the other one.

Lets see some photos of your big score!

Skimmer.....whats your budget? Thats what I look at first then go from there for options. Calcium reactor can come later depending on your needs for one.

You can use a bucket to store water for your ATO.

If you do not want a lot of equipment in the tank, look into closed loop systems.

There really is not drawbacks to using tahitian moon sand. It is basically crushed up lava stone so it does not have the buffering capabilites as aragonite would.

Lets see some photos of the two sumps and I'm sure people can chime in on how to plumb it. I think the biggest challeng would be space on a half circle stand.

LOL, lots of info there but still not enough. For the skimmer its all about budget. You can pick up a Octopus NW 150 which is a great skimmer and the best bang for your buck. If you have the money you can go Euro reef which are awesome but cost a bit more. Calcium reactors are not neccessary in my opinion unless you are keeping a lot of SPS. Yes a Auto Top off can be run from a 5g bucket but with a tank that size its to small. Go with a 20g-30g tank for a Topoff and by from http://top-off.com/. Black sand is fine to use but you will see detritus sitting on the surface more. What size bulkheads do you have, that will help to determine the size of the return needed. You can always use Hydor Koralias for more flow.

I also got a Tunze multicontroller 7095 with two tunze powerheads and some of that stuff... Kinda beyond my experience, but I'll read up on it.

I guess I'll just dose kalk in the ATO instead of the calcium reactor... I don't keep alot of SPS, mostly LPS.

your a gienus!!!! 2 sumps! i've been trying to figure out a way to fit a 75 gallon sump under one of those tanks and i know there is room because there is at least 4 feet of space down there but you cant fit it in there without removing that big 2 X 6 board in the stand but you've figured it out.(hold on, catching my breath) thanks voodoomach and awesome tank by the way.

Well you should of said that in the first post! Your flow problems are taken care of with that.

Also... is it possible to keep any types of tangs (not yellows!!!) or triggers in this tank or is it not long enough?

Actually I was just thinking... I may have to trade some of my fish out...

Right now I've got between both tanks:
2 false percs
1 rainfordi goby
4 neon gobies
1 citron goby
2 yashia gobies w/ candy stripe pistol
1 goldnosed eviota goby

these are all small fish, so what all is gonna try to eat them?

I plan on keeping corals too...

yeah... it had been sitting for awhile... and I came in yesterday and they were gonna store use it for a f-in discus freshwater tank; I wasn't about to let that happen. My gf (the money) and I went in then she bought it after hearing no several times from Bruce that it wasn't for sale anymore... then some lady tried to run and get her checkbook and outbid us... It was like a freakin' car auction!!!

I hope so... lol...

This is gonna get even more expensive REALLY quick...

I'm looking at the PM RS200 for a skimmer, tunze osmolator for topoff with their 7gallon bucket, and I haven't figured out what I want to do about calcium/alkalinity dosing yet... I do kinda like the automation of a calcium reactor though... what's the difference between a calcium reactor and a kalk reactor? or is there one?

All right so I can't decide if I want to do somewhat of a reef or fish only, but with live rock lol. I decided to keep the tank.

You know we are all going to tell you reef. And let me tell you from a personal experience. Everyone that goes FO or FOWLR always endup buying a coral eventually which leads to a full blown reef.

Yeah I want a blue jaw male and a pinktail trigger, but even those seem like they'd destroy my clean up crew.
