I just purchased an American Pinpoint pH Controller for my calcium reactor. I am trying to zero it in. I cannot get the pH to read 9.5 in the 7.0 solution, I have turned the adjustment screw all the way over to get it this low. Any suggestion of waht I might be doing wrong? Or either bad probe or meter?

I thought that there are 2 different callibration solutions; one for 7 and one for 9. It's been so darn long, I think that's right.

One for 7 and one for 10. Have probe in 7 solution, best is 9.5

I would have thought that when you put it in the 7.0 it should be 7.0 and when its in the 10 it should be 10.... Wouldnt you think that sounds right?

I have the same pH probe and did not have troubles. Very easy.
Rotate back and forth between solutions (rince in water in between),
BUT, it should read very close to # of solution you put it in and takes just fine adjustment.
Either the probe is bad or the solution labeled 7 is actually 10.

That what I been doing. I have another 7 solution that I will try in the morning.

what is the temp of the calib fulid? If it's not the correct temp it will not register correctly.

Ahhh yes. I remember reading that part about the temperature being relative to the pH.

Yes it has a conversion chart for temp, but none of the range is outside of the 7 range

it's probably different but with the aquacontroller if say the temp is off by 2 degrees you can go into the settings and manually colaberate it by + or - 2 or 3 degrees. is there an option for that in the settings somewhere?

twist the little screwdriver, release, twist, release. See if that helps. I have a Milwaukee, and that's what I had to do.

Got hold of the guy at Pinpoint, he says probe is bad, "damaged in shipping." I do not see how, first its in bubble wrap, then cardboard box, then peanuts, then shipping box. New probe arrives next friday.

Was hoping to have Calcium Reactor set up last night. Oh well, best laid plans . . .

Can anyone recommend a pH controller. This American Marine Pinpoint is just junk. I ask the guy if it could be the controller itself and was assured it was "Bulletproof" and had to be the probe. Well new probe arrive today, and still the same problem. No matter which way to turn the adjustment screw it will not go down below 9.2, and the 10 solution will not go down below 12.

i did it when i got it and it worked fine, as stated earlier:

take the rubber cap off of the probe, rinse under lukewarm tapwater

open solution #7, put probe in and then move the screw until it goes to 7.
rinse in lukewarm water
next, take out the #10 fluid, put the probe in that and set it until it reaches 10

keep doing this until you can get it as close as possible

btw, i also mentioned earlier that equipment can interfere with the readings when you get it setup. if you have it too close to metal halide ballasts and all of that, youll need to move it away

no nm, have led and the stuff is four feet away. turning the screw it never gets to anywhere near 7, the lowest is 9.2

it has two screws, you use the #7 fluid for the 7 which has the screw next to it

i used fluid #10 instead of #4 and used the screw next to 10,4 for that. is that what youre doing?

I have used the "CALIB" screw for the 7 and the "Slope" for the 10

did you turn it left or right to get to the number?
