k not to be dumb but what is closed loop ? sounds obvious enough...but :confused:

Where you use a powerful pump as a means to circulate water in the tank as opposed to powerheads. Many drill their tanks on the back or bottom and use a powerful pump to draw water from the tank and push it back through to create patters of flow.

Not dumb at all, every newbie has the same questions!!!
