Okay I know this may sound funny but I wanted to be sure anyway,,

Is it okay to put sea shells straight from the beach/coast into a saltwater tank or will it disturb the enviroment?

We are going to the coast and just wanted to know if I could do this!

Please advise.

I've put a bunch in mine in the past. Wash them real good, soak in bleach then wash them again real good.

that water is very harmful to your reef. it really suc!s when an entire reef is wiped out in 3 days!

i just emptied my whole tank to get all that stuff out. It just laid there and served as detrius pocket and then turn from white into this ugly dark gray .

1 or 2 decrative shells wont hurt anything. Many inverts and small fish would make them home. I would actually boil them which will clean and kill anything that may be there, and then you are good to go.
