Okay... for 2 months I have be debating on purchasing a RO/DI unit. The last 2 weeks were spent researching brands; Spectrapure and SeaChem's Pinnacle+. The whole time I was thinking, 'What about the RO unit under my sink, that I had purchased over 6 years ago, which had only been used 2-3 times?'

So, I assumed that I needed a DI Add-on to start with and went under the kitchen sink, disconnected the 'Feed' and 'Drain' lines, and prompted the sucker on the kitchen counter. To my amazement, it was a generic/no name RO/DI unit....

I re-connected the 'Feed' and 'Drain' lines to produce a water sample for TDS testing, using the 'HM Digital TDS-3 meter' I won at a MAAST meeting in March 2008. The TDS result came out to be 00.2 PPM... :whew:

Now, here is where you guys that own a RO/DI unit come in. I found this site, 'http://www.thefilterguys.biz/index.htm' and looked at there 'Add-ons', 'Chloramine Filters', 'Filter Packages' pages.

What do you guys recommend that I need at this point??? i.e.... below:

a. AUTO SHUT-OFF - I believe I already have this.
b. 50 or 75 GPD FILMTEC RO MEMBRANE - I need to check the membrane in this unit, to be sure.
b. PRESSURE GAUGE KIT
c. MEMBRANE FLUSH VALVE
d. RO BYPASS VALVE
e. DUAL TDS METER
f. ADD ON CLEAR 10" HOUSING
g. 100 GPD FILMTEC MEMBRANE
h. CHLORAMINE REPLACEMENT FILTER SET
1 POLY SEDIMENT 1 MICRON FILTER
1 CHLORAMINE MASTER FILTER ACTIVATED CATALYTIC CARBON
1 CHLORAMINE MASTER NH2CL STAGE 3 CARBON BLOCK
1 COLOR CHANGING DI RESIN CARTRIDGE

Look on the sponsers page for Buckeye Field Supply. They will be very helpful for you.

After 6 years of sitting, you probably should replace all the filters. And along with the additional parts for DI, it will come out to about the cost of just buying a new unit.

Check with who supplies your water to determine if you need to deal with chloramines.

Yeah I would check out Buckeye as well. When I was looking over RO/DI units last summer, I checked out both websites and found Buckeye was a better deal. Plus Russ gets on here often and is very helpfull if you got any further questions about RO/DI units.

Having the housings helps offset the cost already in having a RO/DI system.

Alright, so I visited 'Buckeye Field Supply' website and compared equipment and prices... 'The Filter Guys' prices are much less than 'Buckeye Field Supply'. OH THE DRAMA!!!

Anyway, I was turned onto this site and will continue with comparisons: www.purelyh2o.com
