Drilling Holes in Your Stand

I need to drill my aquarium stand to line up with the holds in my tank so I can run my drain and return lines to and from my sump. What is the best tool for this job? I've got a few hole saws in my garage that would probably do the trick. I think the holes in my tank are 1 1/2" but the smallest hole saw I have is 2". Is it an issue if my cuts in the stand are a little larger than needed to run the plumbing through the stand? Any tips? This is my first time drilling a stand.

There is no problem with the holes being a little bigger. Drilling your stand is going to be like drilling any other peice of wood. As long as you do not disrupt the structual integrity of the stand you are good to go.

You want to drill the bigger hole in the stand anyway ,so you can have enough room for your bulkhead.
