i personally havent but i know people who have, theres a minimum order amount and a handling fee of 10 bucks, you may want to check theres no fuel surcharge as most places have added that at the moment as the shipping companies are charging it.. i have heard that the fish arrived ok, but if you lose one i vaguely remember saying the money is refunded to your account there so you have to re-order with min charge etc rather than them just shipping it, but you might want to check that, they have online people who will answer your questions..

I've ordered from them before and was completely satisfied. Both fish and corals.

Never heard of anyone having problems with them.

I believe if you have a dead fish from t hem, you have to salt and freeze the fish, take pictures, send it back(at your cost), etc. I would rather pay a little extra and order from Live Aquaria. I have lost fish from live aquaria(not their fault), and all I had to do was call and they offer a credit, or issue a refund to your Credit Card. no questions asked.

I 2nd Liveaquaria.com

Great service and many have ordered from them. They are connected to drsfostersmith.com which I think have some of the best service in the hobby.

I ordered 5 fish & 1 cleaner shrimnp from them about a year ago. They were all really nice desease free specimens. I still have all of the 5 fish and 1 shrimp in my main tank.

On a side note: They charged me $20 extra for the ($10) box and ($10) shippers fuel surcharge.

I, too, have ordered from them 3 or 4 times.
Good experience overall, but mostly with invertebrates.
Free shipping, but $20 in fuel and box charges.
After the first order, you start getting freebies.

I've ordered from SWF twice, and been happy with them. Their add-on costs can make it pretty expensive, so it's probably only worth going through them if you have a pretty big order.

I have also ordered from them and was happy.....but as far as return goes...I had a dead cleaner shrimp and some snails....I did NOT get a refund.....instead I now have store credit, so i have to order through them again in order to "get my money back." And even then I still have to make the $79 dollar live order minimum plus the $20 bucks or so in misc. charges, but normal shipping through anyone else is more than $20 bucks.

Correct, you have to ship DOA items with salt at your expense (not overnight, standard mail is fine).

I think their selection is pretty slim to be honest with you (fish wise), and if you are looking for les expensive cleaners, you wouldn't be saving ordering from them because of the minimum order and other charges, you end up having to spend $100 bucks...so you might as well get those items at LFS. Especially at River City if they are $13 after MAAST discount. Unless of course you are doing a large order....

I too am thinking of getting an order in perhaps sometime this week...just waiting on some questions to be answered....

I've seen fish from there, and to ME they just didn't look as vibrant or something, but maybe it was the water in which I saw them in or maybe it was just me. I was going to order from them at one time though.

Changed my mind about ordering from there...the deals are negated by the limits on quantity and the minimum order requirements...you cant even really do a group order unless nobody wants more than three of anything.

They also state that if the shipping company gets delayed because of weather they don't refund at all and you have to investigate that ahead of time. :Timeout:

Yeah...no thanks. I require customer service.

You could ask your LFS to match prices on a large order. That is a good solution. If not www.liveaquaria.com (http://www.liveaquaria.com) group order

My question is why would any company be required to refund if the delivery is delayed due to issues with the shipper and or weather. That isnt something that is within their control. Lets say UPS loses your package and it dies, is lost, or a snow storm happens and causes delays. It is not the responsisblity of the business to refund due to the fact that when it left their establishment, it left with the understanding that it would arrive within a certain time frame. If it does not get delivered according to what was aggreed upon shipping, the responsibilty now lies with the shipping company and not with the store. Thats just common sense.

There are tons of unscrupulous vendors that could easily blame it all on shipping or the end user, that's why. Instead of playing the "blame game" they offer a 'guarantee' to try and keep customers. I know that if I received a package with dead corals, I would blame the person I bought it from. Then again, some people do not greet the guy delivering the package and they get left out in the elements, which is no one's fault but the buyer. Common sense tells me that customer retention is #1, no matter how the fish/corals got there.

Acctually it's not common sense........That is where you are DEAD Wrong. Shipping companies require that the Shipper not the reciever be reimbersed any lost or damaged goods, Therefore the company that you paid to ship items to you would be liable for that shipment. So customer service would be a good thing that would go a long way, especially if I ordered $200 from someone and they wouldn't even bother to put in the claim for me to get my money.

Obviously you dont know aas much as you think you do. I am not here to argue with you. But I used UPS as an example and you went out of your way to attempt to prove me wrong. However, if you take a look, I said " LETS SAY" and not "this is the way UPS does it". And for the record, not ALL require the shipper to follow up. DHL allows either party to follow up. The person who makes the claim is the person who can follow up. Companies can also release the right to the reciever to have full access to any information regarding the tracking of the said package. And by the way, I was stating on why a company should have to refund. Resending the item is the appropriate measure instead of refunding.

That's crazy. If you could\can predict that then can you give me the next 10 Superfecta's (Horse Racing).

--------------------------------------------------------------
Definition:
superfecta

-super·fecta (soo′pər-fek′tə)
-noun
a bet or betting procedure in which one wins if one correctly picks the first four finishers in a horse race in the order in which they finish

(Which is almost impossible. That's why $2 can have a $5000 return if your horses hit it)
---------------------------------------------------------------

I think thats just bad customer service on the shippers side.

I would recommend liveaquaria over saltwaterfish. My friend and I did an order from liveaquaria and had a great experience. We both managed to lose a clown fish on the same night and they refunded (no store credit, but an actual refund) my friend's card on the first phone call. They even refunded him when his yellow clown goby disappeared. We don't know what really happened to it, but they refunded it without any issues. I'll definitely do buisness with them again in the future for large orders.
