Is this a decent skimmer?

Anyone have any experience with Nautilus Protein Skimmers?

Ace, so is the 300 Gallon rating a farce??? What do you think the max that the skimmer can handle?

Yeah I was thinking for the price that there is no way it is actually rated for 300gal. I'm looking at adding it to my 120gal. I'm on a budget so I may wait if this thing isn't sufficient enough to do a decent job.

Bill, did you have the same one? Care to elaborate?

I've heard that some people have good results with theirs, but I had one and it wouldn't skim squat.

You can get a Octopus 150 NW for $180+ tzx at aquarium designs and it will be more than enough for your 120g. Put that nautilus to shame, quickly becoming the skimmer of choice when on a budget.

I have heard mixed reviews of that brand. Conversely, I have yet to hear of an Octo being a bad skimmer.

Really the biggest complaint I had about the Nautilus was that it was difficult to keep "dialed in". And, it really was WAY undersized for my 215. Probably should have put it on my 55, but I have a modded bakpak on it that does well.

Thanks for the responses guys, I appreciate the help. I think I will pass on buying that skimmer. I'm thinking about the oct... now.
