I'm getting ready to put together the plumbing for my mag 7, and I was going to use 3/4" pvc for the plumbing. After reading something on melevsreef, he mentioned that you should use pipe that is 2x the size of the fitting on the pump. I've looked through the instructions that came with the pump, and I can't find anything that mentions this. In my case, that would mean using 1" pipe, since the mag 7 has a 1/2" threaded fitting. I was going to use 3/4" because it would mean fewer reducer bushings (I'm also going to be running a scwd with this pump). Are there any advantages/disadvantages to using 3/4" versus 1" pipe?

Im using 1" pipe with mine. No problems at all, I even have mine dialed down with a ball valve so that the water isnt going through my fuge to quickly.

I would question the increase. I have always used 3/4" on mag drives all the way up to a mag 18. In comparison my Panworld has a 1" fitting so I would have to up size to a 1 1/2" and then down size back to 1"? In plumbing just like in electrical if you are running water or electricity for a distance you need to upsize but in short runs I can not see the advantage if any?
