Welcome to MAAST. How long has your tank been established? What inhabitants do you have? Pics? Sea Apple? Have you dosed anything? We need more of a description than that... :)

Chance that you lost too many good bacteria. Big water change? feeding? Like Erik mentioned, need more information.

cheers,

Kurt

fish in tank fuzzy lion, porcupine puffer, piscasso trigger, gulf toadfish, snow flake eel, two four stripe damsels and one domino and one neon stripe damsel. i knwo lots of fish for a 50 gallon but they are still small. i have a magnum HOT 250 and a whisper 60 on the tank for filtration along with a hang on biopac protien skimmer. i know to many fish for tank i will be upgrading soon.i did a 25 % water change and changer all my filter media when i noticed it cloudy. oh and i have large texas holey rock in there that fish love to play in. don't know if that helps?

I highly recommend selling off livestock for the time being. Regardless of the size of the fish you have, there is still way too much bioload on that tank. You need at least 1 lb of live rock per gallon, and the puffer, trigger and eel are all livestock that should be considered for you to sell unless you want to lose them all. I am not trying to rain on your parade, but biologically that tank won't be able to handle those types of fish right now. You need extremely porous rock, not holey rock. Do you have a clean up crew at all? I hate to give you a bunch of bad news, but you need to take a few steps back to fix this....

i knwo what you are saying and yes i am going to get rid of some fish and get a biggr tank. water seems to be clearing up a little after a day. i am hoping it gets better soon. and no i don't have a cleaning crew any crab or snail i put in there doesn't live very long with the puffer and trigger.

Your cloudy water is the least of your worries. I would just like to ask, why would you load all those fish into a small tank knowing that its too much and it is a problem?

its been like that for 7 months i put the damsels in there because they where beating up m tangs that i have in my 110 tall. they are going to be sold off and i am going to get a larger tank. they get along with the excepting of the damsels who are always chasing the other damsels around. was hopeing the eel would eat the damsels but they seem to tough for him. LOL

if you changed filters before noticing the cloudy water you probably killed the majority of your nitrofying bacteria resulting in cloudy water. Does the whisper have a sponge infront of the filter? If so, you should never change the sponge. Only squeeze the sponge out in aquarium water that has been siphoned into a bucket.

Sudden cloudy water when all parameters test OK is just a bacterial bloom due to excess nutrients in the water. You probably fed too much that day or something. It's really no problem with the exception of using a lot of oxygen so be sure your skimmer doesn't cut off at night and you'll be OK. I had a few of them when I ramped up the vodka dosing too fast a long time ago.
