Man I was looking at all those purdy clams this morning but then I saw that shipping charge! If you email Barry, he will usually work with you on group orders like that. I think in the past people just placed their orders and mentioned on their order what group it was with so they held the clams until they were ready to ship all of them.

He will most likely be sold out before you could get a second group order together. He had clams posted monday morning and by that evening sold out. This new batch is almost gone.

Maximas were sold out that morning. Not sure about the other types, but they sell quickly. Seems Barry doesn't get clams in as often as he used to.

Don't mean to steal your thread but maybe I can answer some of your question and concerns.

As we all know the cost of fuel has effected all of us, not just at the pumps but everything we buy. Over the past 13 months, FedEx was adding fuel charges to all our orders but now they have raised the prices up across the board. Priorty overnight from San Diego to San Antonio with our mid size box, the cost is $99.36 but we do get a discount with is still higher than our $55.00 flat rate. We have spent a lot of time looking at our compitition and some are offering lower shipping rates but what we sell some of our clams for ($49.00) some are selling the same thing for $68.00 and more to offset the shipping cost.

As far as not getting in clams like we use to is because a lot of thoverseas supplier are not collecting like they use to. Almost all the farmed raised clams are in the range of 1.5" to 2" and are expensive even at wholesale. We hand select all our clams and we see LOTS of clams when they come in but we are very selective what we buy so the amount we buy is low because we just don't buy clams to buy clams. We look for color, pattern and most important health. All clams are quarantined for at least 7-10 days prior to shipping. Sometime even much longer.

We still offer FREE shipping when we get an order for 10 clams or more. This link will tell you how to order a group order.
http://www.clamsdirect.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1588
When we get new inventory, I will be happy to let someone know from your organization when we are going to post them, so you and your people can be ready to order as soon as they come online. Yes, our clams are sold fast because we have been doing this for over 8 years and have built up a good customer base and people like what we have and I would have to say, that we TRY very hard to provide the best customer service in the industry. :)

If you have any question, please feel free to write me or call.

We still have lots of clams in stock for sale. :)

Best regards,

tony

Probably talk to Barry to find out when his next shipment will be in and let him know you want to do a group order/shipping. He will work out a plan with you on holding orders from people that tell him and ship them all together. I know that is what we did in the past. It was Jim Norris who got us interested in clams a few years back and I think got us started with Clamsdirect. If you go to Sea World and see the big gigas clam they have, it belonged to Jim.

Barry's web store is closed for restocking. It says will be open again this thus or fri. For those that are really interested in a Group order, we need to get prepared, they go real fast. Maybe we can talk Barry into letting us know, the time his store will reopen.

Just received an e-mail from Barry regarding new shipment of clams. He said he will try to notify me/use ahead of time before posting the new clams. If he has any Derasa I am in for ordering. I would be up for a group order, any other takers? If so please PM me and also see the following link. Even if we do not get 10, splitting shipping its still a deal with the quality of clam he has.

Clams today at 5:00 PM CDT.This is the message:

Update.

I HOPE to have the online store open by 3PM, PST. 5PM your time.

Our clams sell out fast so be sure to let your people know that just
because they have it in there shopping cart, doesn't mean that they own
it. If someone else has that SAME clam in their cart and check out
first, they get it and you loss out. With our online store being truely
WYSIWYG, that mean we only have 1 clam with at exact color, pattern and
size. Just like if you go to the car dealer and they only have one car
like it. Once someone buys it, it's gone. Hope that make sense. :)

Barry
PS: Your organization is the ONLY one that I have told what time we
should open. :)

Barry will accept orders until Wed, and then ship Thus for Fri delivery.

This from Clams Direct customer service:
Barry did say that any one that orders clams on this shipment, we will manually deduct 10% off the sale price. That is if we pick up additional orders other than just the 2 orders already received.

He still has a lot of beautful Crocea clams available.

Anyone think they might be interested sooner than "in a few months"?? I just went to their website to visit the clam I've been eyeing to see if it was still there. Right now the website says:

"Our online store will be closed while we are slashing our prices for our BIG SALE! Stop back soon."

That sound like something any of you would like to get in on? I really, really wanted to participate in that group order you guys just did, but the timing was not right for us.

They should be getting an order of Max. in from ORA very soon. I suspect that they are making room for the arrival of those clams. Those babies go will fast.

I doubt of the next order has surprise clams. But it would be great if, MAAST can get a group order of at least 10 clams and really support Barry, just like the other Sponsers.

Hope you don't mind me jumping in on your thread but we are putting the remainer of all our croceas on sale to make room for new clams coming out of quarantine. (Cultured Maxima and some awesome croceas) Hugh discounts!

Now keep in mind, like our website says, " FREE shipping DOES NOT apply when we are having specials on clams, marked down. Like we all know, FedEx does not ship for free, someone has to pay. With the discounts that we offer, we can not afford to pay FedEx too. When we quote regular prices and have a min. of 10 clams, we can do it and still make a few dollars but when we marked them down 20-35% there isn't enough profit to also paying shipping/container.

But if you have 4-6 people ordering, then it makes the shipping so much less for everyone.

Cheers,

zcatzmeow
