I am looking at the 5000 model, and I was wondering if anyone has had a bad experience with this series?

Only with ones over the 6000. 6000 and below are fine, bigger ones are NOISY!

BTW, I know folks have complained about them not restarting well. My 6000 is 2 years old, and gets restarted a couple of times a DAY. Has never missed even once.

Thanks Bill!! What do you run the 6000 on? I was think about that one as well.

I have a 2200 that I got as it was cheaper than a Mag 5 at the time and I haven't had any problems with it. I really only use it for mixing salt though.

I use a 2200 for my return and a 4000 on a CL on my 40g. I've never had a problem with either one. I have however, had issues with mag pumps.

My 6000 is the sump return on my big tank.
