Has anyone purchased pulverized limestone here in San Antonio? If so, where? I've heard alot of success stories with using it for sandbeds, and was wondering if anyone uses it on this forum. Thanks!

I have it in my display and it looks good, but I regret it because it kicks up way to easy and stays in the water way to much.

That is the downfall that I have heard about. Looks great, but too fine. Where did you get yours?

I tried some but didn't like it so I tossed it and went with aragonite. Filthy stuff IMO, but they have it (or used to at least) at the HD in Bulverde if you want to try it.

Isn't that what we use to call Dolomite? Used it as a substrate in the early 90's before we could get live sand.

do Dolomite is dolomite, Limestone is limestone. I got it from HD, but like i said it is to fine a lot of it stays in the water colomn, as bad as i dont want to... I am going to buy all new sand next month and pull all of that out.

IMO Spend the extra money on sand and you don't have to worry about the stuff in your water column

The tanks I have seen that have had success with the stuff, were frag tanks or coral only tanks with no sand stirring fish or other critters, and not much flow, so, yeah, I can see where if the stuff gets into the water column, being so fine, it would cause problems. Good points and thanks for all the input! I think I may use it to make some rock though.
