I bought a 2inch frag and couldn't get it to attatch to anything. I super glued it 4 times, sewed it 2 times, and placed it in a clear bowl for a month with on a rock so that it would not get kicked around. I finally gave up and let it float around the tank. It died. I would like to try again. The glue held it for up to 3 days. The sewing jobs held it about 3 days too before it pulled through the monofilament. Any suggestions?

im not good at glueing at all..what ive done with softies is just kinda place them in a hole where they are kinda "sandwiched" in there and just let them attach themselves

what type of glue are you using and how long did you leave it out of the water before you placed it back in the tank or what ever you placed it in. best thing to have when doing this from what i have done is have an extra tank or bucket with light over head so you can see what you are doing. better yet i'll pm you cause its pretty long.

Super glue gel. Works on everything else. The last time I glued it, I was fed up with it, so I applied glue VERY generously and left it out of the water for ten min. I know the glue dried. Three days later, off it goes. Wierd.

That is what the whole "rock in a bowl" thing was all about. Works great for shrooms, cut zoas, kenya trees--not for my devil's hand.

decided to post it since someone else might want to see my method but it has worked for me.

get a bucket(2 gal), xacto, glue, piece of live rock or what ever you want to attch to, and a light(to see what you are doing) take out water from your main tank and place in a buck.(just make sure you know how much you took out because you will have to replace with new)what you have to make sure is that the glue says it is i belive the word says cyanoacrylate glue or something like that is the word. i use a bucket and get a light over head if you are taking off and fragging from a rock like zoas use an xacto knife since its sharp and easy to use. scrape from the rock so you don't injure the coral. you get the rock you are going to glue on and dry it so the glue doesn't get ugly and dry when placing it. just let the rock sit out for a couple of mins. then you get you coral and with a dry piece of a towel you dab the coral(towords the bottom) you are going to glue with the towel. then you add glue to the rock and attach the coral to the piece gently applying the coral to the location pushing down toward the glue count to about 20- 30 secs and place it in the bucket with the water that you took out from the tank. just becareful not to get it to bend or let it start to tilt because if you do you have to repeat the process after a couple of mins. in the bucket place in you tank and the same thing just be careful placing it. once its in it should be fine and shouldn't have to worry about it falling off. i havent had problems and i've done zoas, shrooms and some sps and lps and havent had any problems. just dont use the water in the bucket any more just toss it out. hopes this helps

Can you push a toothpick through it and then rubberband the toothpick to a rock? That works great for me w/ Kenya tree frags. After it attaches, you can just slide the toothpick out and the frag stays put.

Never thought of that. Sounds reasonable enough. And stabbing it with a toothpick cant be any worse that doing so with monofilament.

Try the sandwich method. Take two pieces of liverock frags one larger than the other. Place the frag between them and rubber band the two together. Easy and works like a charm. Softie will attach to both pieces and you can just cut the rubber bands. Read it in a magazine.

my finger leather came unattached. I did the sandwich method and he fully attached after about 1.5 weeks.

Sandwich them between 2 rocks & use a rubberband to keep them togather. That works for me every time . Ever since learning about this method it has been all I ever do to attach my leather frags. It's real easy. Also a box of rubberbands is so much cheaper that super glue gel. HTH
